On Christmas morning, my son and his family bring breakfast over to our house. My son makes his special coffee cakes and my daughter-in-law makes a wonderful breakfast casserole. Since they live just a few houses up the street, everything is pipping hot. The children are still in their pj's and after a great breakfast we open presents. This Christmas our daughter and her family will be able to join us.

Making gingerbread houses the week before Christmas. Did you know a glue does wonders for holding the sides together.

Christmas Eve, our family takes communion together, all 60-something of us. Then our immediate family goes home and puts on "comfy britches" and has Frogmore Stew, sitting on the sofa watching Christmas movies. By Dec 24th, we are SO TIRED of traditional Christmas food that we can't take anymore and opt for shrimp and potatoes. Then we rip into gifts and stay up late into the night walking over the wrapping paper (which is not thrown away until the next day,) eating mountains of chocolate, and catching up, since we only see each other twice a year.

my favorite Christmas tradition is leaving carrots for the reindeer and cookies for Santa. The reindeer are messy eaters so they always leave evidence all over the house and back yard of carrot remanants. What a joyous find for my 4 year old.
